Land Tax is a State Government charge over land other than your principal place of residence. There is a land tax threshold amount set annually. Current and recent land tax thresholds are as follows:-
2012: Land Tax threshold for 2012 is $396,000. The premium land tax threshold for the 2012 land tax year is $2,421,000.
2011: Land Tax threshold for 2011 is $387,000. The premium land tax threshold for the 2011 land tax year is $2,366,000.
2010: Land Tax threshold for 2010 is $376,000. The premium land tax threshold for the 2010 land tax year is $2,299,000.

If property owned or partly owned by you (other than your principal place of residence) exceeds this threshold, land tax will usually be payable. To find out if you owe land tax, please visit the website of the Office of State Revenue and download an Initial Return form. Once this Initial Return form is lodged with the OSR, an assessment will issue confirming the amount (if any) owing.
